La NINA: Figlia di tempesta

Tempera on paper · Commissioned portrait, 2026

Private collection

Igorski first heard La NINA at a summer concert in Naples. The lyrics are in Neapolitan, a language new to him, yet they resonate intensely and personally. Over the following months he listened to the album Furesta a million times over, and twenty-four hours before her next concert, again in Naples, the idea for this portrait was born.

Its foundation is the style of ancient portraiture: images descended from the walls of Pompeii and from the old Fayum portraits, where the person is depicted in a moment of eternity.

The green background symbolizes the Furesta, the wild and mystical nature that is the central theme of La NINA's music. In the foreground is a tambourine, a deeply significant instrument, and on it Pica pica, the bird mentioned in one of her songs, guide and keeper of ancient wisdom.

The light and colour palette are designed to convey the mystical depth of her music and her image. The portrait is a tribute to a talent that continues to enchant and inspire: the original was given to the singer-songwriter.

A commissioned portrait: from € 100
