Sant'Onorato

Icon · Acrylic on canvas, imitation gold · 100 × 150 cm, 2026

Available

Sant'Onorato is the patron saint of Fondi. In 522 he founded the monastery of San Magno in the town.

In Byzantine painting the figure speaks through symbols, and each sign carries a meaning. The face is that of a wise man, mature with experience. The staff is the abbot's. On the palm of the hand the saint holds the castle of Fondi, built many centuries after his life: in an icon time and space are abstractions, so the saint holds the castle like someone who watches over the city.

The work is painted in acrylic on canvas, measures 100 × 150 cm and uses imitation gold for the halo and the staff. The official presentation, with a light performance, will take place as part of Vivila 2026.

A commissioned icon: from € 100
