Digital artwork · Limited-edition print, 2024

In 1912, in the excavations at Amarna, German archaeologists found the bust of Queen Nefertiti, wife of the pharaoh Akhenaten, in the workshop of the sculptor Thutmose. It is more than three thousand years old and today stands in the Neues Museum in Berlin.

I look at it from below, like a statue on a pedestal. The work is digital, in the style of pastel: soft transitions on the face, dark shadows under the chin, blue reflections on the crown.

The gold and green ground and the strong contrasts take it towards art pop, the language of posters. Hence the title, Nefertiti Art Pop.

Limited-edition print on professional paper.
